Music Ministry

Paul Lukasiewicz, Director of Worship/Liturgy

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.” Psalms 98:4-6

We have a number of opportunities for people in our faith community to join us and enhance our liturgy through song. We are always looking for new members to cantor or to join one of our ensembles. If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please contact the office at (570) 842-4561, or email us at musicministry@scscmoscow.com

Adult Choir

Our adult choir enhances the beauty of our weekend, Holy Day, and special Masses throughout the year.

Our choir season runs from September through the Graduation or Corpus Christi Mass in June.

We practice most Thursday nights from 6:30 – 8:00 in the main church.
If you’re a new member planning to attend for the first time, please call the office at (570) 842-4561 or send an email to musicministry@scscmoscow.com first, to be sure practice is still scheduled for that night.

The ability/training to read music in an advantage, but is not required.

Funeral Choir

At Funeral Masses, in addition to a cantor, we also have our Funeral Choir, which is comprised of volunteers who are free during the day.

Some of our members also sing with the our other ensembles, and we’re always in need of more people who are available and enjoy singing with others. Even if you can’t join join us every time, please consider having your name added to the call list, and you’ll be alerted when we have a funeral.

Due to the nature of funerals, there is a standard music line up that changes infrequently; however, families may request appropriate hymns that were favorites of the deceased or the family.

Funerals usually start at 10:00, however, other times may be requested by the family. When a funeral is scheduled, a cantor, organist, and all the members of the Funeral Choir are called. Please arrive about 30 minutes before the funeral, to review the music selections, if possible (sometimes the viewing is held in the church prior to the funeral.)

If you are interested in joining the Funeral Choir, please call the church office at (570) 842-4561 or email the Director of Worship/Liturgy at musicministry@scscmoscow.com
